In his bid to reinvent Moncler (the Italian apparel and lifestyle company founded in 1952 by René Ramillon most known for its down jackets and sportswear) chairman and creative director Remo Ruffini recently launched the Genius Group, a series of 12 collaborations with different designers including Simone Rocha and Richard Quinn. We’re obsessed with the collaboration with Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli which showed at Milan Fashion Week. The collection featured innovative floor-length puffy gowns made of down and were created by Piccioli in collaboration with model and designer Liya Kebede, whose own label Lemlem, provided the inspiration for the trim details based on African textiles. “I am after a balance of dreaminess, extravagance and soulfulness,” said Piccioli. “I involved Liya Kebede in the process, creating something true to her, to Moncler and to my own sensibility. Connecting diversities is my idea of inclusive creativity.”
