American painter, sculptor and photographer, Edwin Parker Twombly Jr., has always been a favourite of ours. The large-scale, freely-scribbled, calligraphic and graffiti-like works are instantly recognizable, and many belong today, in permanent collections of most of the museums of modern art around the world, including the Tate Modern and the Museum of Modern Art. Twombly was also once commissioned for the ceiling of a room of the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
