Nick Jones, the founder of Soho House & Co, first saw London’s disused Midland Bank building in 2012 and fell in love. The building, designed in 1924 by Sir Edwyn Lutyens, had been empty for nearly eight years by then, but he big plans for it. Today, the once-empty building houses the brand new Ned, a 252 bedroom Five Star hotel with nine restaurants, which alone, are in the historic 3,000 square metre former banking hall. The décor is said to be done with a nod to 1920s glamour, but all throughout, what is for certain is the extraordinary attention to detail …
